XForm

Aellius XForm™ is a solution to create, archive, print, and deliver custom-formatted documents. Output can be passed into XForm from Aellius LynX Output Manager, EnterpriseOne, or from any XML (Extensible Markup Language) source. In addition to formatting, this product also bursts documents printed in batches. For example, you may want to locate and reprint (or email) a single invoice (or purchase order) that was printed in a huge batch. This software product was created so that there are no "proprietary" development skills that need to be obtained – it is standards-based (XSLT and HTML).

Standards Based

Unlike most other document-formatting solutions, Aellius XForm uses only XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations, a W3C® standard) to format the XML source. In other words, there is no "designer" or proprietary toolset to learn. If your developers know XSLT and HTML, they already possess the skills needed to use XForm.

Document Formats

XForm creates formatted documents in HTML and PDF. Formatting includes some basics such as adding logos, borders, alignment, and page breaks, but these are just the beginning of what can be done...

Document Bursting

An XML source can contain information pertaining to several business documents. For example, an ERP system can produce a document that contains data for several invoices. XForm can split the original document into separate documents, archive them with key indexes (such as Invoice Number) that pertain to the document, and conditionally deliver them to recipients based on the data in each document. Imagine how happy users will be when they see how easy it is to reprint a single invoice or purchase order!

Document Delivery

Formatted documents can be delivered to end users via email. Email recipients can be configured as static (hard-coded) or data-driven (based on the data in the XML document or an external source).

Document Archival

Formatted documents can be archived in the XForm Repository. They can be easily accessed using XForm Manager, a web-based console. Archived documents are keyed based on document type. So, if you want to retrieve an Invoice, you can search for that document using data that is relevant to Invoices (Invoice Number or Invoice Date, for example). Formatted documents may be archived for a set number of retention days or indefinitely.

Document Security

Archived documents are secured by default, which means users don't have access to archived documents until explicit access is given to those documents. You can control user access by Document Type. For example, you can configure the system to allow Finance Users to have access to Invoices and the Purchasing Users to have access to Purchase Orders. XForm uses Windows Active Directory for authentication, so there is no additional administrative overhead to maintain authentication within XForm.

PDF Security

In addition to document access security, you can configure PDF security for PDF documents. XForm supports the following PDF document security features:

• Password to open the document
• Password to restrict certain document features (printing, copying text, images etc.)

XForm can be easily configured to format XML Outputs (aka OSA Outputs) from JD Edwards EnterpriseOne® using Aellius LynX Output Manager.
